Quarterly Planning in Notion (+Free Template)

As a service provider, it's essential to have a clear plan of action for your business to thrive. One effective way to achieve this is through quarterly planning, which involves breaking down your goals into achievable tasks that you can accomplish within three months.

Notion is an all-in-one workspace that can help you streamline your quarterly planning process.

In this video, I share how I use Notion for quarterly planning and share some tips to help you get started.

How to Quarterly Plan in Notion

Step 1: Define Your Goals

The first step in quarterly planning is to define your goals. What do you want to achieve in the next three months? Your goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).

Create a page in Notion where you can write down your goals for the quarter. This page should include the following information:

  • A brief overview of your goals

  • Specific metrics that you will use to measure your progress

  • A deadline for achieving each goal

Step 2: Break Down Your Goals

Once you've defined your goals, the next step is to break them down into actionable tasks. This will help you stay on track and ensure that you're making progress toward your goals.

Create a new page in Notion for each of your goals. On each page, list the tasks that you need to complete to achieve your goal. Be specific and break down your tasks into manageable steps.

Step 3: Assign Tasks and Set Deadlines

Now that you have a list of tasks, it's time to assign them to yourself or your team members. Notion makes it easy to assign tasks and set deadlines.

Create a new database in Notion and add columns for task name, assigned to, and deadline. Then, populate the database with your tasks and assign them to the appropriate person.

Step 4: Track Your Progress

As you work towards your goals, it's important to track your progress. Notion provides several tools to help you do this.

You can create a Kanban board in Notion to visualize your progress. Each column can represent a stage in your workflow, such as "To Do," "In Progress," and "Done." Move your tasks from one column to the next as you complete them.

You can also create a dashboard in Notion to track your progress toward your goals. Include charts or graphs that show your progress over time.

Step 5: Review and Reflect

At the end of the quarter, it's important to review your progress and reflect on what worked and what didn't. This will help you improve your quarterly planning process for the next quarter.

Create a page in Notion where you can write down your reflections.

Include the following information:

  • What you accomplished

  • What you didn't accomplish

  • What you learned

  • What you'll do differently next quarter

Quarterly planning is an effective way to achieve your business goals. Notion provides a powerful tool for service providers to streamline their quarterly planning process.

By defining your goals, breaking them down into actionable tasks, assigning tasks and deadlines, tracking your progress, and reviewing and reflecting, you can stay on track and achieve success.
