How to Gather Client Testimonials in Notion (+ Free Template)

As a business owner, you know that referrals from satisfied clients are powerful. Word of mouth is one of the most effective ways to generate leads and new clients. One way to encourage referrals is by collecting client testimonials. Testimonials from happy clients can turn one client into ten, but we often forget to ask for them.

In this video, I'll share some tips on how to gather client testimonials and provide a free Notion template to make the process easier.

The Importance of Client Testimonials

Before we dive into the details of how to gather client testimonials, let's talk about why they're so important. Testimonials provide social proof that your services are effective and trustworthy. They give potential clients a glimpse into the experience they can expect when working with you.

When a satisfied client provides a testimonial, it can be a powerful marketing tool. Testimonials can be used on your website, social media, or in promotional materials to showcase your expertise and professionalism.

When to Ask for Testimonials

Knowing when to ask for a testimonial can be tricky. Some people feel uncomfortable asking for them, and others are unsure of when the best time is to ask. One way to make it easier is to have a process in place.

Consider scheduling a project wrap-up call, where you ask for feedback on the project and any suggestions for improvement. This is a natural time to ask for a testimonial, and it's fresh in the client's mind.

How to Ask for Client Testimonials

Asking for a testimonial can feel uncomfortable, but it doesn't have to be. Here are some tips for making the process easier:

  • Be specific: Provide your client with some reference points on what you want them to touch on in their testimonial. This will help ensure that their testimonial speaks to the value that other potential buyers would care about.

  • Ask for feedback: Don't just ask for a testimonial. Ask for feedback and suggestions on how you can improve your processes. This can provide valuable insights and improve your services.

  • Ask for permission to share: Ask for permission to share the testimonial on your website, social media, and other promotional materials. This helps build trust with potential clients and shows that you respect your client's privacy.

  • Provide a thank you: Show your appreciation for their business by sending a thank you note or small gift. This can encourage referrals and strengthen your relationship with the client.

Notion Testimonial Request Form

To make it even easier to collect client testimonials, I've created a free Notion template that you can use to request testimonials. This template includes a simple "that's a wrap" message that you can customize with your client's name.

The template also includes reference points to help guide your client's testimonial, a section for feedback and suggestions, and a section to ask for permission to share the testimonial. Finally, there's a space to thank the client for their business and support.
